Everything has a beginning, a middle and an end after some fashion or other; and to THAT end, all things must pass. And so it came to be that Australian Crawl, after its fashion, in February 1986, came to an end.
It was a wrap. It was time. A wind-up. A sign-off. A relief. A joy. Funny. Sometimes slightly sad but resolute. A swan-song. A kiss-off; a sign-off; under the belt, on the wagon and headed for the barn. Put to bed, wiped up, wiped out, cleaned up, mopped up, polished and polished off. That was all folks, that was all she ever wrote.
Well…
Next year, 2026, James Reyne will celebrate The Fall Of Crawl, taking the iconic Australian Crawl songs out for a COMMEMORATIVE run across Australian and New Zealand. Taking in a vast array of locations, including Wellington and Auckland in New Zealand.
James says, “It’s everything you know and love, celebrating things been and gone; and how time really does f**king FLY!”
James Reyne and his full band will perform in Welington at Meow Nui on Friday May 1, and in Auckland at the Powerstation on Sunday May 3rd.
Josh Owen will open for James Reyne at both gigs. Tickets are on sale now, Wellington HERE and Auckland HERE
‘Going Back to Nashville’ is a blasting, fast-driving country-rock postcard from Music City, inspired by James’ tours with Tony Joe White and peppered with nods to country icons and lore (Wynonna’s buffalo, Tom T. Hall’s ‘Watermelon Wine’, Delbert McClinton, Jerry Jeff Walker, George & Tammy, Porter & Dolly).
‘Going Back to Nashville’ is the latest single for ARIA Hall of Famer James Reyne, who has had 19 x Top 40 singles – including six x Top 10 hits – and 11 x Top 10 albums. His songs have provided the soundtrack to endless Australian summers. As the late, great critic Ed Nimmervoll noted, “His voice is as familiar to us as the taste of Vegemite, as essentially Australian.”
Don’t mis your chance to see the legendary James Reyne, with his full band, when they return to New Zealand in 2026.
