The follow up to 2021’s critically acclaimed number one album LOVE SIGNS, EXPERIENCING FEELINGS OF JOY is another beast entirely, a transcendent pop opus that takes listeners on a beautifully euphoric and uplifting journey, even as it’s underlined by some of the most surprisingly raw and confessional lyrics that frontman Sam Hales has put to paper yet.
Borne from a particularly turbulent period in Hales’ life which included creative burnout, physical injury, frayed friendships and the end of a long term relationship, EXPERIENCING FEELINGS OF JOY is a living testament to the eternal adage “the only way out is through”, with Hales using writing as a means of turning all the emotional tumult and upheaval into musical gold.
“I'd overextended and kind of cooked it, but I really found myself”, Hales says. “That’s where the joy comes from, having this unwavering hope even after experiencing adversity. This record is the culmination of everything for me, because I'm so in love with it and I'm so addicted to music again.”
With a record big on feelings and even bigger on floor-fillers, Hales has naturally refocused his sights on world domination. “It just feels good to just be spreading joy and love on a global scale,” he says.
“I'm lucky to have an immigrant mum from Ireland. I grew up being very exposed to an international outlook.”
With a mammoth Australia and NZ tour already locked and loaded, watch this space for their next international tour.

The Jungle Giants will also be hitting the road in Australia in June, before heading to Aotearoa for three shows in July. They are supported by The Tullamarines.
