Tour News - Support announced for The Veils' 'Fragile World' Aotearoa tour 2026 - 29th April 2026
Following the critically acclaimed release of ‘Asphodels’ in 2025, The Veils quickly return with a bold and invigorated new album titled ‘Fragile World’, out June 19 on V2 Records. Today The Veils alongside Banished Music announce supports for their upcoming 10-date New Zealand tour including 6 band shows featuring the closing show of Strange Universe: Winter in Auckland, and 4 solo performances.

The Veils will be joined by Auckland-based - by way of Gippsland, Australia - Neo Folk Artist Jazmine Mary for 9 of the ten shows. Possessing one of the country's most esteemed and idiosyncratic folk voices, Jazmine Mary's masterful song-writing is matched only by their artistry. They have played in support of Kurt Vile, Billy Bragg, Gang of Youths, and toured the country in support of Reb Fountain, as well as won the Best Independent Debut at the 2022 Taite Music Awards for their album 'The Licking of a Tangerine'. To top it off their critically acclaimed sophomore album 'Dog' was named one of Aotearoa's Top 25 albums by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Joining The Veils solo performance in Nelson will be Young Moon (duo), the musical vehicle of Nelson based San Francisco native Trevor Montgomery who has been writing and recording brooding ballads and blissful psychedelia as Young Moon for over a decade.
“It feels right to start our Fragile World tour back home in dear Aotearoa. These are some of our favorite towns to play in on earth and we can’t think of a better way to dust off this moth-bitten black suit and hat and get the show on the road. Come along, be merry, and as always come up and say hi” says Finn Andrews.
Arriving just over a year after their last release, ‘Fragile World’ marks a striking shift in tone and energy for the band. Recorded live to tape in New Zealand by Paddy Hill, with production by Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, The Chills, Folk Bitch Trio), ‘Fragile World’, captures The Veils in an urgent and instinctive mode.
Featuring the singles Lungs and stunning new track Aurora, the album’s title is both a reflection of the present moment - a time in which many institutions appear to be crumbling before our eyes - and a metaphor for the act of creation itself. The process of making music, Andrews notes, is a delicate and fragile undertaking where thousands of small decisions gradually coalesce into a finished whole.
“We went into the studio with a lot of songs, but very little idea of the arrangements or instrumentation. It was truly exciting having no idea what this record would sound like and only a few weeks to figure it out. It’s mostly Tom and I playing everything, with Joseph McCallum coming in at times. It was all very instinctual, quite full-on, and scary at times - but a good kind of scary, not scary like the real world out there.”
With its immediacy, intensity, and emotional clarity, ‘Fragile World’ stands as one of The Veils’ most compelling releases to date.
‘Finn Andrews wrung his electric guitar like some Southern snake-handling pastor filled with righteous certainty and the spirit of his Lord…’ Elsewhere, Veils live review
