New Music Release - Jude Kelly shares alluring new track Siren Song - January 2025
/ Megan MossArtist Name: Jude Kelly
Release Name - Siren Song
Release Date - 31st January 2025
Genre - Folk Pop, Pop, Soul
Label - The Orchard
Aotearoa/New Zealand-based singer-songwriter Jude Kelly returns with her new single ‘Siren Song’, out now via The Orchard.
Firmly anchored in her soulful pop foundation, the sonic world of 25-year-old Jude Kelly is uniquely arresting. Her inimitable voice and authentic charm form the touchstone of her timeless songwriting, driven by emotive lyricism and a folk-tinged flair, revealing traces of her influences including Lana Del Rey, Maggie Rogers and HAIM.
Today’s single, ‘Siren Song’, is a haunting depiction of an unshakeable inclination towards chaos, lured into a false sense of security before tumbling down a rabbit hole of self-destruction – “Oh Alice did you find your way / Did the rabbit take your name?”. Speaking on the track, Jude reveals, "Siren Song is a state of turmoil induced by the uncertainty of choice in life, whilst being stuck in an episode of Euphoria. ‘What the f*ck are we doing?’ – a question that can drive us to insanity with a glittery twist."
Born in Dunedin, and now based in Auckland, Jude Kelly has experienced a lifetime of love, loss, growth, accomplishment, and resilience, and through it all, she’s been writing songs. Raised by two pastors as the youngest of 5 children, Jude moved out of home at just 15, and turned to songwriting as an outlet to process questions of identity and selfhood - being taught to see the world through the lens of God, whilst coming to grips with the world on her own terms.
‘Siren Song’ follows her evocative debut ‘Bonnet Bunny’ from November last year, an Americana-driven anthem of friendship that garnered support across 10 Magazine, Frankie Magazine, Sniffers, Radio New Zealand, SYN and more. Rounding off 2024 with a sold-out debut headline show in Auckland, followed by a set at Rhythm and Vines festival, Jude Kelly brings a renewed determination into 2025, with more music on the near horizon.
'Siren Song' is out now, buy/stream it here.

Like many, my love for symphonic metal can be traced back to the debut of Nightwish. Before that, however, Angra, Blind Guardian and After Forever had captivated my ears with their blending of orchestras, heavy melodies, and starting a dangerous hobby of peak soundstage in headphones.
