Purple Rain: a screening and party to celebrate the life of Prince
/A screening and party to celebrate the life of the artist forever to be known as Prince.
Join in the purple party this Queen’s Birthday weekend, and celebrate the life of musical legend Prince with a special screening of his iconic film Purple Rain.
The night will start with live entertainment from New Zealand’s #1 Prince fan and gifted songstress, Georgia Duder-Wood, who will pay homage to Prince’s genius.
Following the screening of the cult classic Purple Rain, the after-party gets started on Electric Avenue with DJ Erotic City playing tunes late into the night from Prince’s vast catalogue.
Dress to impress because The Kid would expect no less from his Beautiful Ones. Think big hair, ruffled shirts, fog, innuendo, purple, cross-dressing and lingerie if you dare.
Complimentary drinks as pure and purple as waters from Lake Minnekonta will be served on arrival, made possible by alcohol sponsor Steve Sapich and his legendary Purple Death. There will also be other alcoholic beverages available to purchase at the Capitol’s licensed bar.
As the artist who will forever be known as Prince would have been celebrating another birthday on the 7th, we also have a delicious birthday cake created by the talented Devoney Scarfe of Sugar Mama.
Special thanks to Edwards Sound and Lighting who are helping bring the club Electric Avenue to the Capitol.
