Artist: A$AP Ferg

Date / Venue: Thursday September 22nd, 2016 - The Powerstation, Auckland

If there was any true meaning of the word HYPE, A$AP Ferg would be part of the description!

Last night A$AP brought his iconic “Trap Lord” vibes to Auckland City’s Powerstation, and the crowd was definitely feeling it. The Powerstation holds a fair amount of people but is still considered to be an intimate venue for artists to perform, so when I heard that A$AP Ferg was to perform there I knew it was going to be a dope show! From singles such as 'Hungry Ham' 'Strive' and 'New Level' A$AP, brought his newest album to life, getting the entire venue bumping and chanting.

With limited stage gimmicks, it was awesome to see A$AP just vibing out with the crowd and completely killing the show with pure talent and energy! With special guest Marty Baller from A$AP MOB pouring out on stage, the crowd were yet again hit with some insane talent and some incredible energy that left the night with everyone feeling on point. Always Strive and Prosper, is A$AP’s second album and is doing quite well on the charts at moment, with A$AP initially being the MOBs clothing designer, but it was ASAP Rocky that continued to push Ferg in the direction of rapping and he soon became the crew breakout rapper. It was originally planned that Rocky and Ferg were to be a duo, but both artists found more success as solo rappers.

Ferg's deliverance in his music is something that has gained a vast following for the rapper and he is becoming more and more recognised for his talent and creativity. One thing I thoroughly enjoyed about the show, is that he was so into mingling and interacting with the crowd no matter what, in the last song he even brought up a hype crowd on stage and got everyone involved. The crowd undoubtedly shared his enthusiasm, and continued to hold on the fort, but rapping along to every song and enjoying the insane bass that was pulsating through our bodies!

Not your typical Thursday night, but DAMN it was good! Overall, it wasn’t the lights or anything else, but Ferg's incredible energy and mind blowing performance that had everyone hooked all night! I’m sure there a few hangovers that are in need of some urgent TLC today, cheers A$AP!
