With great excitement, Download 2019 announces the Ascension Stage. The festival makers have grabbed all the stunning acts that are clearly tomorrow’s headliners and put them all on one stage, a showcasing of immense talent.
Introducing to the Ascension Stage… Western Sydney’s heavy-hitters Justice For The Damned. They crashed through the gates swinging with their debut Dragged Through The Dirt. They are hard working, hitting tour after tour after tour, first doing their own headline before many support shows through Australia and Europe.
Up next are Australian metal slayers Aversions Crown. They are both the chaos and the catalyst; their goal is to destroy everything in their way! Their potent mix of brutal death metal and eldritch violence has be fine-honed by the slew of festivals they’ve performed at recently.
Kiwi-beauties Devilskin well deserve their spot on the Ascension Stage. They are unwaveringly committed to unpretentious musical values, writing songs that have depth and passion, and enduring a gruelling touring schedule. The aggressive yet tactical instrumental attack is balanced by the dulcet voice of Jennie Skulander. Her range sweeps the whole gauntlet—from whispers to roars—and drips with power and melody, enthralling the crowd with the sincerity expressed.
Carrying the torch for Australia’s impressive history of musical outliers comes Eat Your Heart Out. They deliver up a platter of emo energy, punk power, and pop palatability, all with a grunge twist and immense excitement. They are lyrically honest which allows their message to resonate loudly once they’re done.
Melbourne-based The Beautiful Moment are a locally brewed force to be reckoned with. Their lyrics are relatable, speaking to psychological strains, the pains and perils of broken relationships, and the incessant impact of various forms of abuse. They put on an engaging live show which has entranced fans and critics alike. These genre-benders have no intention of slowing down any time soon, dropping their anticipated sophomore album soon.
