Emily Fairlight to support Kitty Daisy & Lewis for Hawkes Bay & Wellington shows

Famed sibling trio Kitty Daisy & Lewis are returning to Kiwi shores next month with their unique blend of vintage country and first-generation rhythm and blues and have just announced Emily Fairlight and band as their special guest for Hawkes Bay and Wellington.
 
The Kitty Daisy & Lewis New Zealand 2018 Tour takes in Black Barn in Hawkes Bayon February 9, San Fran in Wellington on February 10 and the Powerstation in Auckland on February 11.
 
US bluesman Blind Boy Paxton has already been announced as Kitty Daisy & Lewis’special guest for Auckland, and now fans can look forward to seeing Kiwi poet and songwriter Emily Fairlight supporting in Hawkes Bay and her hometown of Wellington.
 
With a sound that’s been compared to P.J. Harvey, Grace Slick, Natalie Merchant and Cat Power, Emily has been composing and performing for more than a decade. And with a new album on the horizon, audiences can expect a mix new songs and material from her back catalogue. She will be joined by her band, which features Ben Cole (The Datsuns, Joint Chiefs) on drums and Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol, Svelte) on bass.
 
No strangers to New Zealand audiences, Kitty Daisy & Lewis are known for their eclectic mix of Pop, Blues, Psychedelic Rock, Country, Jazz and Ska, as well as energetic live performances and tight musicianship.
 
The trio is touring their fourth album Superscope - a vibrant and lively record, which oozes old school blues, rock ’n’ roll and soul. They will be joined on stage by their father Graeme Durham, mother Ingrid Weiss on bass, and legendary octogenarian trumpeter Eddie ‘Tan Tan’ Thornton. 
 
Auckland’s special guest act Blind Boy Paxton is the living embodiment of the true blues in the 21st Century, but plays it all in the true songster tradition - ragtime, hokum, old time, French reels, Appalachian mountain music, blues and lots more.
