Client Liaison, Big Shaq, Tiga & more round off R&V 2017 line-up

The Rhythm and Vines Festival have pulled more treats out of the bag today, releasing Big Shaq, Client Liaison, Tiga and more, rounding out the bill that covers 26 international and 90 local acts from all corners of the musical world.

80s infused indie house music will feature heavily on December 30 by the way of Client Liaison. After rave reviews from two shows in NZ earlier this month, this will be the Melbourne duo’s first festival performance in New Zealand. Michael Dapaah, the British rapper, actor and comedian is best known for portraying the fictional grime MC Big Shaq. Originating as a meme, Big Shaq's debut single ‘Man’s Not Hot’ has gone ultra viral with over 60 million views worldwide in just under three weeks. He is more than just a social media star, and R&V organisers can’t wait to see what Big Shaq has in store when hosting the Vines stage on December 29. Multi talented Canadian producer Tiga returns to back up his memorable set at R&V 2011. Having remixed the likes of LCD Soundsystem, The XX, Moby among others, his live show is a visual and aural treat that will bring a many a smile to the 20,000 in attendance at Rhythm and Vines 2017.

Up and coming Australian producer Willaris K. has also been announced to join the lineup along with Javi Bora (Ibiza) who will headline stages on New Year's Eve rounding off a diverse and eclectic festival lineup, keeping the R&V vision in line with leading festivals around the world.

These acts join the already announced first line up including Schoolboy Q, Mura Masa, Baauer and Giggs as the festival celebrates 15 years of welcoming in the New Year at Waiohika Estate. Since its launch in 2003 Rhythm and Vines has seen over 435 hours of live music performed amongst the vines and over 250 thousand festival goers come through the gates.

P-Money, David Dallas and Savage have been confirmed to play the coveted New Year's Eve slot with Savage promoted to bring in the New Year thanks to his epic set on the main stage in 2016. This year will be P-Money’s 9th performance at the festival, a title he shares with Dick Johnson who will play the festival with his partner Anna Coddington under their alias Clicks. Homegrown favourites SWIDT (who recently took out Best Group at NZ Music Awards), L.A.B, Theia and PNC will also join the lineup bringing their uniquely kiwi flavour to complement the strong international line up on offer.

This year will also see the introduction of the brand new Garden Stage to the festival. Located adjacent to the Waiohika Homestead, this brand new stage will house Giggle and Vines comedy segment headlined by Heath Franklin’s Chopper, an alternative and indie line up with a focus on up and coming acts including High Hoops, Soaked Oats, Balu Brigada and Yukon Era to name a few.
