Sonorous returning for 2019
/New Zealand’s premiere house and techno-focused festival, Sonorous, is back! Returning for its second year, the one-day extravaganza will be held on the Sunday of Auckland Anniversary Weekend, January 27, at Matakana Country Park, just outside of Auckland.
The carefully curated line-up includes some of the biggest names in underground music and another exciting headliner, who is still to be revealed.
Featured in the first line-up announcement is the “original house gangsta” Puerto Rican-born, Chicago-raised DJ SNEAK. In the mid 90’s, Sneak’s sound revolutionized house music, with his disco-filtered house grooves paving the way for the likes of Basement Jaxx, Armand Van Helden and Daft Punk. DJ Sneak’s legacy is incomparable to many, his unique way of dominating the music scene is often talked about and respected by the industry’s pioneers. DJ Sneak has influenced many of the world’s greats and continues to hold legendary status to this day.
He’s joined by internationally renowned D-NOX, well known for his work with his long time musical partner Beckers and has recently come back into the spotlight with his work alongside Victor Ruiz as witnessed with their collaboration “Arise” on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. His famed DJ sets cover the whole spectrum of electronic music.
Dutch producer, DJ and composer Eelke Kleijn earned his stripes producing as M.I.D.O.R. & Six4Eight, owning and operating his own label DAYS like NIGHTS as well as releases & performances with Ultra Music plus productions on movies such as Wrath of the Titans and Transporter. After successful shows in NZ earlier this year, many people will be excited to see him return.
Spanish DJ/Producer Miguel Bastida’s name can be found at the world’s best clubs, festivals and parties as well as his own music constantly charting on Beatport. Miguel has delivered more than once in Auckland and is guaranteed to impress with deep, heavy and energetic sets.
Other dance legends on the bill include Greg Churchill, Dick Johnson, Heylady & Out of Sorts (Antix & Fiord), with further strong local support from K2K and Sam Lovli, with more to still be announced.
Sonorous is again being held at the stunning location of Matakana Country Park, just a 45-minute drive north of Auckland. And with the festival falling on the long weekend, it promises to be one of the summer highlights of January 2019.
