South African raconteur Jeremy Loops announces two NZ shows

South African singer-songwriter Jeremy Loops has just announced a global tour, which includes two shows in New Zealand at Neck of the Woods in Auckland on Wednesday, May 30 and San Fran in Wellington on Thursday, May 31.

The extensive tour, which will see him play 27 shows in 10 countries, across three months, supports the upcoming release of his new album Critical As Water, out on March 16.

Juxtaposing booming city rhythms with lilting folk, Jeremy Loops drew critical praise in 2014 for his debut album Trading Change, which won MTV Africa’s Alternative Album of the Year, and iTunes South Africa’s Album of the Year.

His high-energy shows helped Loops to build a cult-like live following, which saw him support Twenty One Pilots and sell out his own headlining tour across Europe, cementing his place as one of music’s most exciting, self-made success stories.

Now he’s thrilled to be announcing dates Downunder: “Getting to do Australia and New Zealand as part of this Critical World Tour, and not something we try fit in when the gap in schedule comes about, shows just how important performing in this region is to us. And we know the love we give, Aussie and Kiwi crowds give will right back.”

Loops’ upcoming album Critical As Water is produced by Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’, Lily Allen, Bastille), with additional production contributions by Jake Gosling(James Bay, The Libertines, Shawn Mendes).

It also contains the lead single ‘Waves’, a woozy summer anthem.

When Loops isn’t making music, he’s travelling to the furthest corners of Africa to battle deforestation through his organisation, Greenpop.
