Set to release her exquisite debut album Reservoir at the end of August, Sydney’s Sophie Payten AKA Gordi has been confirmed as the main support for the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne shows only. Recorded across multiple continents with a range of world-class producers and musicians, Gordi’s soulful vocals are complemented by crisp, ethereal production across eleven tracks that delve into the ramifications of loss and time. The East Coast support slots will be the first opportunity for many fans to hear music from the new album.
National opening act Fountaineer are also set to release their debut album Greater City, Greater Love on August 4. Three years in the making, Fountaineer cut their debut album at a "beautiful farm house right on Lake Eildon" after taking out the 2015 Unearthed competition to open Groovin The Moo Bendigo. Blending elements of new wave and indie-rock, the band have described the record as being a love story about their hometown of Bendigo.
Since the 2015 release of their critically acclaimed debut album, The Positions, Gang of Youths have quickly become one of Australia’s most acclaimed and hardworking touring bands. Earning countless glowing reviews for both their live shows and recordings, the band are ready to unleash their highly anticipated sophomore album, Go Farther In Lightness on August 18 on Mosy Recordings/Verge via Sony Music.
This new record continues the work that has already so indelibly imprinted on fans across the world. Go Farther In Lightness bears the scars of the band’s painful history, flashing their wounds with the same candour as The Positions, but seeking to draw new lessons from their struggle to endure.
Celebrating the upcoming release of their second studio album, Go Farther In Lightness, the band will be playing their biggest shows to date. The tour kicks off in Brisbane on August 31, followed by all ages shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Adelaide; the band will wrap the tour in Perth on September 16.
