Stanaj announces NZ promotional tour
/New York-born singer, Stanaj, will be making his New Zealand debut next month, coming to Auckland in early April.
Named one of VEVO dscvr’s ‘ONES TO WATCH IN 2017,’ the 22 year-old vocal powerhouse has already kicked off the year with his new EP, From a Distance, featuring the rising hit ‘Romantic’ (NOTD Remix).
Driven by his dynamic range and immense talent, the track racked up 40 million-plus Spotify streams in less than three weeks, while going Top 25 on the US Viral Chart and Top 50 on the Global Viral Chart. It also landed on the coveted New Music Friday playlist in Australia, Canada, Finland, The Netherlands, and Sweden—currently totalling over 40 million plays worldwide at the platform.
Following an incredible debut performance of the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, which garnered public praise from fellow guest Justin Timberlake (watch it below), the EP soared into the Top 15 on iTunes Overall Albums Chart. Timberlake’s cosign follows a bevy of social media endorsements from additional superstars such as Drake, Chris Brown, NBA athlete Brandon Jennings, Kim Kardashian West, Russell Simmons, and more.
Last fall, Stanaj embarked upon his first ever tour, joining label-mate SoMo’s The Less Stress More Love Tour before going on to support Jojo on her North American Mad Love Tour starting last month. He was also featured on Lemaitre’s new single ‘Playing To Lose’ - which reached over 1 Million streams on Spotify within a week of release.
The EP evinces every facet of Stanaj's signature style. ‘Changed’, written by Jhart (Usher, Justin Bieber), Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (Beyoncé, Rihanna) & Stanaj, is a brilliant, heartfelt lover’s plea with a gospel tinge. Bright acoustic guitar mixed with organ sounding synths and resounding backing vocals make Stanaj irresistible, whilst ‘Bad Woman’ is an impelling floor-filler showcasing his phenomenal tone and vocal skills, written by Stanaj, Pete Nappi (The Chainsmokers, Santigold) & Carmen Reece (Ariana Grande, Craig David). Other writer collaborations for the EP include Frazer T Smith (Adele) on ‘Meant To Be and Nikki Leonti (Jessie J) & Ryan Edgar on ‘Find Me’.
