Lianne La Havas announces exclusive NZ headline show

British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas, who has been confirmed to join Coldplay as special guest on their A Head Full of Dreams tour, has announced an exclusive intimate solo show at Auckland’s Tuning Fork on Friday, December 2.

Lianne La Havas has already toured with Coldplay through Latin America and Europe, marking the first stadium shows of her career. Playing a hybrid of alternative folk and soul, Lianne has also opened for Bon Iver on their North American tour and contributed to Prince’s 2014 album Art Official Age, as well as recording with Alt-J and Tourist.

La Havas was named by The Guardian as the Best Act at this year’s Love Supreme Festival in the UK, who wrote; “Saturday’s penultimate act Lianne La Havas stood out with her sweet, powerful voice and darkly humorous lyrcis. Everything was done with grace and charm”. Consequence of Sound echo the sentiment, calling Lianne’s 2015 Chicago performance “entrancing”, while Billboard notes that with “just a voice and a guitar La Havas achieves an impressive level of engagement between audience and performer”.

Last year, La Havas performed a three-song set for NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, showing off her superior vocals for the online series that has showcased the likes of Adele, Hozier, Miguel and more. She has sold out headline dates across the world’s most prestigious venues - including Brixton Academy and Royal Albert Hall - and has graced the stage at some of the world’s biggest music festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude and Bestival. She is currently special guest to US breakthrough artist Leon Bridges on his American tour.

During her recent support slot on Coldplay’s world tour, Lianne often performed her own interpretation of the beloved Burt Bacharach and Hal David song 'Say a Little Prayer', made famous by Aretha Franklin & Dionne Warwick. Her performance of the same song at Belgium’s Rock Werchter quickly became one of the highlights from the festival; the feedback from the crowd was so positive and electric that the recording got added to Belgium national radio station Studio Brussels and went Top 5 on Itunes.
