Electric dance theatre work HEALR heading to the Basement Theatre

Award winning choreographers Jessie McCall (Best in Fringe - Tassle Me This) and Rose Philpott (Short + SweetTempo award - numero numero) present ‘HEALR’, an electric dance theatre work.

In the blaze of sweltering bar heaters, HEALR tackles the urge to purge – the self-healing practices that can drive us to wellness or into crazed rituals of self-destruction.

The Auckland based duo have been creating work for 10 years, bringing their respective experience into this first full-length collaboration. Jessie’s recent work includes the “impressively entertaining ” Cover Lover and sold out season of Tassel Me This with Shani Dickins, while Rose has been performing for some of New Zealand’s top companies such as Footnote, Okareka and Foster Group.

Recipients of the first Wellesley Studio Summer Residency in January this year, Jessie and Rose have conjured up HEALR through a range of strange experiments, uncomfortable discussions, and transformative work-shopping sessions. All You Can Eat productions continuously offer work that is both wildly entertaining and darkly provoking- dance for non-dance watchers that weaves theatre, music and design into a mesmerising and visceral experience.

HEALR brings to virtuosic life ideas of the self, magic, personal growth, placebo and self-healing practices. “Expect opposing poles of well-being…to be hot and cold, well and unwell, a little feverish” says Jessie McCall.

HEALR is about being human and all of the versions of human that we wear.
