The Coathangers announce NZ tour

The Coathangers head down under for the first time ever in New Zealand, to play two shows in Auckland and Christchurch.

When The Coathangers started up in 2006, their aspirations were humble. “I think all bands in their early twenties start for fun,” says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel when talking about their early years of cheeky no-wave and irreverent garage rock. But Julia and her bandmates Meredith Franco (bass/vocals) and Stephanie Luke (drums/vocals) were serious about their craft, and that combination of modest outside expectations and absolute dedication to their music made for exhilarating live shows and contagious records.

Nosebleed Weekend shows that 10 years on, The Coathangers are still rocking, stronger than ever. The new album came hot on the heels of The Coathangers highly-praised 2014 release, Suck My Shirt, but with a difference. Nosebleed Weekend is the first album The Coathangers have made outside of their native Atlanta, and with this expanded location has come broadened horizons musically. The Coathangers' new release still manages to contain the simmering vocal intensity, serrated but catchy instrumentation and neo-grunge tone beloved by their fans, while incorporating more sophisticated song writing, expanded musical concepts and a shine of maturity.

Recorded in North Hollywood at Valentine Recording Studios with Nic Jodoin (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nightbeats), Nosebleed Weekend contains something for every Rock n Roll and Coathangers fan, new and old.
