Tiny Ruins set for two dates at Avondale's Hollywood Cinema
/Tiny Ruins are set to play two spellbinding shows at the historic Hollywood Cinema in Avondale on the 2nd and 3rd of December.
Searching for an unusual space to preview material from the third album they are currently recording, the band were lucky enough to stumble upon the beautiful Hollywood Cinema which dates back to 1915. Painstakingly restored over the past year by its film enthusiast owners, these two nights promise to be among the city's most memorable events before the year is out - a celebration of live music, film and, it goes without mentioning - the building itself.
Tiny Ruins have been wanting to curate a special show in Auckland for some time. When they walked around the old cinema, they decided it might just have to be two nights. With food, music, short films and trailers, and an eclectic bill of other artists, the band are promoting and putting on this show themselves, to offer their audience something personal and exciting. It will be in the spirit of their 2014 Brightly Painted One tour finale at the rarely used Crystal Palace theatre, which has since seen many more acts using the space. Unveiling new songs, as well as playing old favourites, new & seasoned fans alike will find it a night out worth waiting for.
The band, led by songwriter Hollie Fullbrook, have become one of the most quietly successful groups on the international stage. With collaborations with heavyweight film maker David Lynch and The Clean’s drummer Hamish Kilgour, through to esteemed praise from indie icon Kurt Wagner (Lambchop), the band were recently invited to headline The Sydney Opera House before hunkering down to record new material.
