Anno Domini returning to Auckland Art Gallery

Following four sold-out shows on Auckland Art Gallery’s East Terrace, Auckland’s premier outdoor event series Anno Domini will return with three dates this summer.

Inspired by rooftop events popular in New York and throughout Europe, Anno Domini proved in 2015/16 it could deliver on its promise of providing Aucklanders a purposefully curated yet relaxed afternoon event series, mixing together great music, food and drink. Coupled with a stellar line-up of international and local acts, Anno Domini quickly became one of most in-demand events in Auckland selling out all four events receiving rave reviews from both attendees and prestigious publications including electronic music bible, Resident Advisor.

UK DJ Ben UFO and Melbourne dance music heavyweight Tornado Wallace will kick off the first event of the 2016/17 season on Sunday December 11th. As one of the co-founders of Hessle Audio, Ben UFO has been responsible for some of the most varied and groundbreaking releases of recent years. Placed at number four in 2015’s Resident Advisor Top 100 DJs, Ben UFO is one of the most respected and in-demand DJ's in the world, as well as one of the few DJs in the industry to have made an impact without a production career to fall back on, with his reputation solely the result of his skill as a selector and as a mixer.

A product of Melbourne’s rich underground electronic music heritage, Tornado Wallace’s distinct and perceptive electronics now find him in a constant rotation of both hemispheres, spending most of the year based out of Berlin. After some time in between releases due to an increasingly busy DJ schedule, 2016 sees the release of the long overdue and eagerly awaited debut album Lonely Planet, on Gerd Janson's Running Back.

Sunday January 8th sees sought after selector and producer Theo Parrish & Australian selector CC:DISCO! take the Anno Domini stage. Hailing from Detroit, Parrish is widely described as one of the music world's true visionaries. Often branded as eccentric, irrational and wildly unpredictable, Parrish has influenced a generation of music lovers and aficionados through his work with notable Detroit mainstays like Moodymann & Marcellus Pittmann as 3Chairs and his very own Signature Sounds label. His seemingly god-like reputation in the DJ booth ensures Theo Parrish is always in hot demand around the world.

Commonly known as Australia’s ‘First Lady of Disco’, radio presenter and club DJ CC:DISCO! has firmly established herself as another notch on Melbourne’s belt of quality selectors, with bookings that see her mainstage at some of Australia’s most respected clubs and festivals - such as Falls Festival, Meredith, Splendour in the Grass and an up-and-coming debut Boiler Room appearance as part of Sugar Mountain Festival 2017.

Midland and Gerd Janson will headline the third event of the series on Sunday March 12th - well respected for his craft, it’s possible Midland’s revered talents in the studio are only slightly overshadowed by his blistering ability as a DJ, delivering his kaleidoscopic taste with a mixing technique that nods as much to his UK lineage as it does to a smoother European style.

Often referred to as the 'DJ's DJ' Gerd Janson is all things electronic music. From being one of the early Red Bull Music Academy team members, to his label Running Back that is one of the most respected and consistently brilliant labels in dance music, having fostered such future stars such as Todd Terje and Tensnake, as well as his tireless efforts as a DJ and Producer himself - Gerd Janson has become the house and techno world's guiding light of how to do things right.

As with every Anno Domini event, event headliners will be joined by an all-star cast of local support that includes K2K, Tim Richards, Friendly Potential DJs, Becky & Minder.

Tickets for all three events are on sale 8am Monday 14th of November from www.justtheticketnz.com and for more info visit Anno Domini on Facebook
