Vallkyrie drop sunny & self-assured track 'My Way'
/Following on from the release of their critically-acclaimed single ‘Runaway Child’ in June, Vallkyrie drop their next standalone track, the sunny and self-assured ‘My Way’.
A feel-good anthem bursting at the seams with positive vibes and summery instrumentation, ‘My Way’ was written by members Omer Gilroy,Rebel Reid and Brandon Haru about the importance of self-confidence, finding oneself and refusing to live within somebody else’s limits.
"(My Way) is about doing things your own way for no one else. It's basically an anthem for anyone who feels like just doing them, and being proud and strong about it.
We wrote this while on tour in 2017 in our little church, the sun was shining and we felt good that we were doing things our way, and that's how this song began. A smoke, some toast and a milo" – Rebel Reid.
The South Auckland-based three-piece exploded onto the scene in 2015 with their unique and powerful sound that takes elements of arena-rock and mixes them with R&B, Hip-Hop and EDM. Their dynamic set plays with fervent melodies and atmospheric soundscapes all wrapped up by the on-stage dynamic of members that at the heart of it all are really great friends with a strong, immeasurable bond.
Their video for single ‘Aztec Breath’ has received a nomination for ‘Best Music Video By A Maori Artist’ at this year’s Waiata Maori Music Awards, with their sophomore album due for release late 2018.
