New Music & Video Release - Thornhill share new single Tongues from 3rd studio album Bodies

Artist Name: Thornhill

Release Name - Tongues

Release Date - 7th March 2025

Genre - Alt Metal, Metalcore, Nu Metal

Label - UNFD

Back in January, Melbourne's Thornhill set tongues wagging with the announcement of their hotly-anticipated third studio album BODIES, due out on April 4 via UNFD. And today, a final glimpse into BODIES arrives via TONGUES; a swaggering track laden with oozing melodics, dilated textures and razor-sharp sorcery that pushes and pulls with potent urgency.

Of their brand new track, Thornhill share: "TONGUES explores the tension of being pulled between opposing forces—desire and resistance, surrender and defiance. In many ways, it reflects our own relationship with heavy music, the push and pull between being consumed by it or resisting its grip. The song’s atmosphere feels like an ongoing battle, shifting between aggression and restraint. Lines like 'turning your tongue in two' and 'fingernails down the walls' heighten this conflict, evoking the struggle to commit or break free.”

Globally renowned for their artful and engaging heavy creations, Thornhill possess a flair for gripping charm forged with unforgettable ferocity. Via their ARIA Award-nominated 2022 album Heroine, Thornhill cemented their reputation as one of the most innovative heavy acts in the Australian scene, with Heroine debuting at #3 on the ARIA Albums charts, and at #1 on the Australian Albums charts.

While Heroine revelled in lush textures and bold, curated aesthetics, the upcoming third studio album BODIES finds Thornhill opening the floodgates to spontaneity. Balancing intensity with boundless creative freedom and ingenuity, album #3 for Thornhill is not only a definitive snapshot of a band in full flight just shy of a decade into their staggering career; it's also a celebration of authenticity and gripping dynamism from one of Australia's most engaging heavy acts.

Thornhill have amassed a heaving array of accolades over the years, including triple j's Feature Album and additions to countless Best Of The Year listings for their 2019 release The Dark Pool. And in 2023 and 2024, the band gifted some insatiable new material courtesy of standalone singles Viper Room and Obsession, as well as a live album, Live On Tour!, boasting performances captured in the wild across the globe that released in June.

Earlier this week, Thornhill supported A Day To Remember for the legendary Florida group's only Knotfest Australia headline sideshow, and are set to perform three special album preview shows later this month. Offering fans a unique opportunity to experience BODIES before its release in a live and intimate setting, Thornhill's BODIES Album Preview Shows will kick off on Thursday 27 March at Howler in Melbourne, before heading to Brisbane's Crowbar on Saturday 29 March and closing out on Sunday 30 March at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney. Melbourne is sold out, with a final tickets warning in place for Brisbane and Sydney - don't delay, these tickets absolutely won't last long!

Thornhill are also set to return to North America for a headline run, kicking off in April supported by Avoid, Ocean Grove and Banks Arcade.
