Boycrush shares new track 'Song for Alex' and announces NZ tour
/Boycrush have revealed an aspirational pop gem from upcoming album Desperate Late Night Energy, which is due for release on June 15th. Listen to the dynamic, uplifting and supremely camp ‘Song for Alex’, featuring vocal treatment by Lower Hutt-based musician Benny’s Videos.
‘Song for Alex’ is the second in a video trilogy filmed and directed by AV artist and musician Rowan Pierce. Filmed in association with The New Zealand Dance company, the video centers on dancer Carl Tolentino, with added input from fellow dancers Xin Ji and Chrissy Kokiri in a lyrical if surreal dance sequence choreographed by Malia Johnston.
Boycrush has also announced a nationwide tour, kicking off in late June to celebrate the release of Desperate Late Night Energy.
Covering three New Zealand towns (Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin), Boycrush will be supported by an array of local talent. See the full list of dates and ticketing links below.

Modern dance iconography is at the conceptual centre of Desperate Late Night Energy. Placeholder DLNE track names came from a Wikipedia glossary of dance terms which initially served as creative provocations but some eventually stuck to the songs and remain on the final tracklist.
Recorded in the basement underneath Auckland's Crystal Palace, DLNE inhales the euphoria of the early morning hours and puffs it onto a low-lit dance floor. Like his previous EPs, it was mixed by Bevan Smith of Introverted Dancefloor, and features 11 hypnotic tracks including features from Yumi Zouma, Chelsea Jade and Benny’s Videos.
