Mel Parsons shares video for new single ‘I Got The Lonely’
/Mel Parsons has released the video for her latest single, ‘ I Got The Lonely’.
The Kiwi singer and songwriter released ‘I Got The Lonely’ last month, giving fans a taste of what’s to come on her new full-length album, which is out later this year.
Parsons revealed the lead single in a series of live performances on New Zealand radio, including Radio Hauraki and RNZ. It also made its debut on Spotify atop the ‘Chilled Roots’ playlist.
Produced and directed by Tim McInnes at Ruffell Productions and filmed on a skate ramp in the basement of a ski factory in Lyttleton, the video for ‘I Got The Lonely’ is void of bells and whistles. Rather, it sees Parsons simply performing at the centre of her band; bathed in a warm glowing light. It captures Parsons’ honest and authentic approach to making music, which stands her out as one of New Zealand’s most loved indie-folk artists.
‘I Got The Lonely’ and Parsons’ soon-to-be-released fourth album were recorded in LA with celebrated American producer Mitchell Froom (Suzanne Vega, Crowded House, Elvis Costello, Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie).
Parsons and Froom (who also plays keys on the record) were joined in the studio by bass player Kaveh Raster (John Legend, Sia), guitarist Adam Levy (Norah Jones), and drummer Ted Poor (Andrew Bird).
Christchurch-based Parsons has forged her own path as an independent, self-managed artist, with three critically-acclaimed albums - and an upcoming fourth - to her name. She has won over audiences the old-fashioned way, through relentless touring, which has taken her to every corner of the globe.
