New Video - Gordi shares stunning video for 'Heaven I Know'

Only a few short weeks ago Gordi shared exciting news revealing that her highly anticipated debut album Reservoir will be released on Friday 25 August, and offering the first taste of music from the album with the stunning track ‘Heaven I Know’.

Today the music video for Gordi’s ‘Heaven I Know’ has been revealed. Directed by James Soldan, Sophie Payten (aka Gordi) explains the concept behind the emotive clip. "The video communicates simply the tragedy of growing apart. There are elements and forces that will wedge themselves between two people - people that have known each other deeply, only to eventually bend and break. No matter your struggle, sometimes the storm is inevitable."

‘Heaven I Know’ is the first sample of what is to come from Gordi’s debut full-length album Reservoir (out Friday 25 August) one of two tracks that were self-produced by the triple j J Award and FBi Radio SMAC Award nominee, and triple j Unearthed’s Most Played Artist for 2015.

Reservoir was written by the 24 year old artist from Sydney-via-Canowindra and co-produced alongside Tim Anderson (Solange/Banks), Ali Chant (Perfume Genius/PJ Harvey) and Alex Somers (Sigur Ros). It was recorded in Wisconsin, Reykjavik, Los Angeles, New York and Sydney.

“The name Reservoir, it's that thing that you can't describe, that space that anxious people would probably live their life in. It's actually an expression my friend and I use. If I'm really down one day, I’ll say, ‘Oh I'm a bit in the reservoir today’. You're mulling everything over, and you're sitting in all these thoughts and feelings. In order to be able to write a song I need to go to that place, but I couldn't live a functional life if I spent all my time in there.” – explains Gordi.

Following the release of some of her first tracks including ‘Nothing’s As It Seems’, ‘Taken Blame’ and ‘Can We Work It Out’, Gordi’s voice and her music very quickly caught the attention of her label mates Bon Iver who asked her to perform backing vocals for them during their performance of “8 (circle)“ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the tail end of last year. Gordi returned the favour with a breathtaking acapella cover of “00000 Million” which you can listen to here. Along with US supports for Bon Iver, she has also toured with the likes ofThe Tallest Man on Earth, Highasakite, Local Natives and Of Monsters and Men.

Already this year alone, the award-winning singer-songwriter will finish up a two-month tour through Europe and the US, having played the opening night at Primavera in Barcelona, a Bon Iver curated event at Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin, a sold out headline show in London and a headline festival slot in a 12th century Viking hall in Bergen, Norway.
