BARKER releases 'Sleepwalking' and shares video for new single 'Censored Video'
/Songwriter and musician BARKER marks today's release of Sleepwalking with new single and video 'Censored Video' and the announcement of an album release show Auckland next month.
'Censored Video' is the second track released from the eight-track 'psychedelic folk rock' album, continuing the narrative writing style across the album.
"I wrote the songs on the album as though they were short film scripts, rather than just drawing on my own life experience. This new writing process has been incredibly freeing and has also led to some very exciting music video concepts" says Johnny Barker.
"'Censored Video' is about how everyone has a front that they project. Erase one layer of footage and you may find what is truly behind. The video is an extension of this concept, shot in two halves, the first shot by Drew Sturge in Pamplona Spain in 2015, with the second part shot two and a half years later by Chris Watkins at 'Big Picture' in Avondale New Zealand. You might see influences from the films Moon, Boyhood and Bad Taste in there.
"I'm super excited to put the album out today, and I'm looking forward to playing the songs with a live band next month with members of The Map Room and The Aristocrats."
