Andy Richards releases new album 'Shine On'

Warkworth based singer/songwriter Andy Richards released his second full length album Shine On last week.

Shine On is a collection of catchy, deceptively simple, pop songs. From ballads to folk, rock and soul, Richards cites such Influences as Frank Sinatra, Mad Caddies, Jack Johnson, and MGMT.

Recorded over a period of 12 months in a friend’s home studio, Andy enjoyed the relaxed and unpressured atmosphere, with no time restraints and complete control over the recording and mixing process.

Featuring brother Cory Richards on the drums, with guest appearances from Strangely Arousing’s horn section and Andy’s high school guitar tutor on bass, Andy provided guitars and vocals, as well as ukulele and other instruments.

Lead single and video ‘Dumb Little Love Song’ is a modern twist on the 1950’s/60’s old school sounds that Andy grew up with.

The second single ‘No Hope’ is an Exponents-style shuffle that builds to a horn filled climatic ending.

Shine On is an anthology of songs from the last decade, covering different stages of Andy’s life - both high and low. Overall it is an uplifting, positive, catchy pop album perfect for sing-a-longs, road tripping or blasting on the home stereo.

Andy celebrates the album's release with a show at The Portland Public House on Saturday, September 3rd at 8PM.
