Grammy-nominated and BRIT-Award winning singer-songwriter KT Tunstall returns with the release of her brand-new single 'Cancerian', via BMG. The track marks the second of three new songs on her forthcoming 20th anniversary reissue, 'Eye To The Telescope: The Stargazer Edition', set for release on October 31st, 2025.
Co-written with Tommy D (Beyoncé, Adele, Sophie Ellis Bextor) and produced by Grammy nominated Robert Adam Stevenson, 'Cancerian' is signature KT: blues-y guitar riffs, a driving beat, and a chorus that brims with power, rhythm and hooks. Balancing her trademark introspective folk with propulsive blues/rock energy, and a foot-stomping beat, the song, laced with a dash of humour, channels Tunstall’s identity as a true Cancerian force - dynamic, bold, and magnetic.
Reflecting on the milestone, and speaking on the new track, KT shares: "After deciding on my first album title, it got me thinking about horoscopes and how we have always looked to the stars for guidance. The Zodiac signs are often weirdly bang on at describing us, but one of my major pet hates in life is anyone telling me what to do, or telling me they know what is (or isn't) going to happen in life - I definitely wouldn't be where I am now if I ever listened to other people's predictions."
She continues: "'Cancerian' is written from that middle ground of awe and skepticism, and pokes some gentle fun at anyone being sure of how the future will turn out. It was a lot of fun to record an old song for the very first time, and I loved getting the chance to work with the truly excellent Producer and Mixer Robert Adam Stevenson on this track. It is accompanied by one of my favourite videos EVER! Animated by brilliant artist Amy Lucas, with some excellent cameos to create some Star Sign Boxing Match Mayhem. May the best sign win."
The single will feature alongside two other never-before-heard tracks - 'Anything At All' and a newly completed title track and first single from the reissue, 'Eye To The Telescope'. Originally penned during writing sessions for Tunstall's landmark debut, these songs have been lovingly revisited and completed two decades later, bringing the journey full circle.
The anniversary project sees Tunstall revisit the multi million selling album that first catapulted her to global stardom. Originally released in 2004, 'Eye To The Telescope' spawned the timeless hit 'Black Horse and the Cherry Tree' and soaring mega-hit 'Suddenly I See' (which accompanied the entire opening sequence of The Devil Wears Prada, forever linking KT with a cultural ubiquitous moment), cementing her reputation as one of the most distinctive voices in British music. The album went multi-platinum, earned BRIT and Ivor Novello Awards, Grammy nominations, and most recently contributed to her recognition with the Outstanding Song Collection Award at The Ivors.
'Eye To The Telescope: The Stargazer Edition' will be available in exclusive collector's edition vinyl and CD formats on October 31. Alongside the three new songs, the release features rare B-sides and exclusive live recordings - a true celebration of KT's enduring artistry.
To coincide with the reissue, the three newly completed songs ('Cancerian', 'Anything At All' and 'Eye To The Telescope') will also be released digitally as a standalone Stargazer EP. The EP will include both the original versions and intimate new "Still" acoustic renditions, also available October 31 via BMG.
With its mix of nostalgia, reinvention, and forward motion, 'Eye To The Telescope: The Stargazer Edition' is both a heartfelt tribute to the past and an invitation into KT Tunstall’s ever-expanding creative universe.
