Office Dog have returned with the announcement of their sophomore album, Prime Corner - out digitally, on vinyl and CD on June 19th via Flying Nun Records.

Following their recent single ‘Front Row Seat’, the band today share their second single from the album, ‘Gold Things’. The video, directed by collaborator Sophie Black was shot live at Double Whammy in February this year, and was made with the support of NZ on Air Music.

‘Gold Things’ was the first song written for Office Dogs’ upcoming record, and informed the overall sound and feeling of the new album. Lyricist and front person Kane Strang says, "This song is about getting what you’ve wanted, or reaching a place you’ve seen off in the distance for a long time.”

Threaded with themes of instability and the home, Prime Corner was predominantly authored while front person Kane Strang was house sitting for a month in West Auckland. During these writing sessions, Kane experimented properly with alternate guitar tunings for the first time. After showing his aural sketches to Rassani Tolovaa (bass) and Mitchell Innes (drums), the trio demoed the album in a whirlwind ‘Storage King’ session. They then became attached to almost all of their initial ideas and quickly laid them down over five days at Roundhead Studios around Christmas 2025. Guided by the steady hand of engineer and producer De Stevens, Prime Corner is a truly instinctual and organic record.

Dynamically, Prime Corner is a mixed bag; the album contains both Office Dog’s heaviest and softest tracks to date - and speaks to the push and pull of “normal life” as well as the feelings brought about by having no real roots in the ground. The title of the record itself was borrowed from a sign outside of a soon-to-be-developed building site at the “best spot on the street”.

Office Dog is a New Zealand indie rock band known for their understated charm, jangly guitar work, and songwriting. Blending lo-fi sensibilities with strong melodies, their music pairs warm textures with reflective lyrics, often capturing everyday moments with a light, wry tone. Drawing on classic indie influences while maintaining a distinct identity, the band has carved out their place in Aotearoa’s modern guitar music scene.

The project was formed in late 2021 by Kane Strang, following a run of solo releases on Flying Nun Records and Dead Oceans. After moving from Dunedin to Auckland, he set out to build a more collaborative project alongside drummer Mitchell Innes and bassist Rassani Tolovaa. Over the next year, their ideas developed into a full set of songs, leading to their debut album Spiel (2023). This new material and the lead single 'Big Air' in particular quickly gained traction online.

They have since released their Doggerland EP (2024), and in 2026 Office Dog are well and truly back with the upcoming record Prime Corner - out June 19th via Flying Nun Records.

Recently, Office Dog announced their UK and European tour, happening throughout May this year. The band are putting on one last fundraiser at Auckland’s Whammy Bar on May 2nd for their upcoming trip abroad. Office Dog will be previewing much of their new album Prime Corner, and celebrating the release of the brand new single ‘Gold Things’.
