One of the most exciting new voices to emerge from Hawke’s Bay in the last five years, Ella Pollett, has released her new single ‘Losing My Mind’.
A moody alt-pop ballad, which slowly builds to an unforgettable and epic chorus, ‘Losing My Mind’ captures the feeling of unravelling from the inside. It showcases Ella’s skill for writing deeply emotional, honest, and vulnerable songs.
“‘Losing My Mind’ is about feeling emotionally overwhelmed, like you’re trying to hold together, but everything’s building up inside. It captures that moment when you’re questioning everything and feel like you might just break,” says Ella, a two-time winner of Smokefree Rockquest.
“I wrote it during a time when I felt unheard and mentally drained, so it’s really personal. I hope listeners who are going through something tough feel seen when they hear it. It’s not about having all the answers, it's about being honest with where you’re at, and knowing it’s okay to not be okay.”
Written by Ella herself and produced by Nigel Mauchline is the latest in a string of winning singles from the award-winning singer and songwriter and marks her first-ever round of funding from NZ on Air.
‘Losing My Mind’ is accompanied by a video produced by Michael Firr of Mifarr Productions. Set against a rustic countryside backdrop, it beautifully captures themes of isolation and reflects the emotional state of being lost within one’s own thoughts.
