Ōtautahi’s very own 1 Drop Nation is warming up winter in Aotearoa with the release of a sizzling new love song, ‘The Way We Love’.

Carrying 1 Drop Nation’s signature fusion of roots, rock, funk ‘n’ reggae, ‘The Way We Love’ is a heartwarming, sing-a-long, packed with emotive vocals, lush harmonies, funky guitar riffs and feel-good rhythm.
“This song is about being whole heartedly and completely in love with that special person in your life,” says the band’s lead singer, Kanei Johnson.
“If you can imagine holding that special person in your arms, looking into their eyes and feeling so complete. Sing it loud and sing it proud ‘I love the way we love’,” he adds.
The sentiment of the song, which is supported by NZ on Air, is captured in the accompanying music video starring members of the band and friends.
“‘The Way We Love’ has them sing-along vibes so we wanted to create that in a space where friends gathered around a fire, enjoying the vibes.”
Produced by Dr Lee Prebble (L.A.B, Kora, The Black Seeds) at the Surgery in Wellington and mastered by Josh Llewellyn at Downbeat Mastering, ‘The Way We Love’ is the third single in a row from 1 Drop Nation, following the release of the classic reggae tune ‘Proud’, which received support from Mai FM, and the funk-filled ‘Supernova’ featuring Laughton Kora.
All three singles point to some exciting news on the horizon about the band’s upcoming project.
