Meanjin/Brisbane-based petalcore outfit Torizon release their debut concept EP 'Meliora'. To mark this exciting news, the group reveal their poignant new single 'Hold On', produced and mixed by Kalen Austin, and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Studios (Bad Omens, Windwaker, Papa Roach).
Challenging societal perceptions around miscarriage, grief, and recovery, 'Meliora' spans six tracks charting the journey of characters Luna and Samson. The final chapter, 'Hold On,' embodies catharsis and healing as it balances modern metal's heaviness with delicate vulnerability. Proggy guitars, high-impact rhythms and shimmering strings surge in as Mish Sharma and Ben Gallaher's call-and-response vocals interweave to paint a stirring finale.
Torizon touch on the inspiration behind 'Meliora':
"We wanted this EP to hopefully create a deeper sense of understanding about fertility struggles, which is not often talked about. The title came from the Latin phrase 'Ad Meliora', meaning 'towards better things', and it represents the resilience of anyone who has lived through these experiences. 'Hold On' is our way of urging listeners to keep pushing forward, even in their darkest moments."
'Meliora' Tracklist:
1. 'Overture'
2. 'Bloom'
3. 'Sober'
4. 'Currents'
5. 'Echoes'
6. 'Hold On'
