Aotearoa’s very own Queen of Disco, Lou’ana, has today released her highly-anticipated sophomore album, aptly titled DISCO WITCH.

Earlier this year, Lou’ana revealed ‘side b’ of the album, by way of the five-track SO BELOW EP. Now she completes the full picture with ‘side a’, AS ABOVE.

Combined, both sides make up the 10-track album, DISCO WITCH; the contrast between the two, showing the care and thoughtfulness behind the songwriting and production. Every arrangement, sound, and lyric has been shaped with intention, creating a body of work that feels immersive, soulful, and cinematic while staying true to the essence of Lou’ana’s magnetic and mystical DISCO WITCH world.

“It takes the listener on a journey through light and shadow; heart and groove, with each song revealing a different layer of transformation and self-expression,” says Lou’ana.

DISCO WITCH includes fan favourite tracks like ‘Disco Coven’, ‘My World’ and ‘Heartbeat’, as well as the title track, which serves as the album’s focus single.

The song ‘Disco Witch’ is a cosmic disco ritual - a high-energy, groove-driven anthem that blends soulful vocals with hypnotic, shimmering 70s textures. It opens like an invocation, ‘Disco witches, you majestic beings…’ before erupting into a pulsing beat that feels both spellbinding and empowering. It moves between magnetic basslines, celestial harmonies, and catchy melodic string hooks, capturing the essence of liberation, feminine power, and dance-floor transcendence.

“It’s the kind of track that makes you want to move your body and lift your spirit at the same time,” says Lou’ana.

The song’s energy is captured in a video, which is a moving artwork – a divine vision of ‘Disco Witch’ in flight, high in the clouds. The video was filmed on Super 8 by Katya Brook.

“Every detail of the set was intentionally crafted to pull you into a spellbound moment where vintage glamour meets cosmic fantasy,” says Lou’ana.

“A hypnotic portal into the world of ‘Disco Witch’. Layered into this heavenly scene are extra glimpses into her world, captured on a vintage camcorder by creative duo Julia Franchino and Robin Smith, with video footage also by Masa Milnovic. These textures reveal more facets of the ‘Disco Witch’: her energy, her style, her cosmos.”

Lou’ana loves to bring people together to sing and dance. This lyric video is an invitation, a chance to learn the words, tap into the magic, and sing along together.

Lou’ana describes ‘Disco Witch’ as one of her favourite tracks on the album, adding that it is an anthem for embracing the inner witch, the magnetic, wise and liberated self. “It celebrates love as a transformative force, a kind of ecstatic surrender to connection, creativity, and spirit. It dances between worlds of myth and magic, drawing on Greek archetypes like Eros and Venus while embodying the freedom of the disco era.”

Another favourite is ‘Supernova’, which embodies feminine rage. “It has this explosive, powerful energy to it. It feels electric and alive. I can’t wait to play it live with a full band.”

The album DISCO WITCH is available on all streaming platforms, as well as limited edition Magenta Quartz vinyl, pressed by Stebbings, which you can order HERE.

DISCO WITCH was produced, recorded, arranged and mixed by Nathan Judd (Rageous Records), with Lou’ana acting as executive producer and creative director. The album was mastered by Vivek Gabriel, with the vinyl mastering done by Vivek Gabriel and Steve McGough.
