Pōneke-based soulful musician Nikau Te Huki (Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairarapa) known to audiences as Casual Healing, has today released ‘People’ - the leading single from his final of four EPS embodying the elements. ‘AHI’ (fire), ‘HAU’ (wind), ‘WAI’ (water) and completing the ambitious cycle, ‘ONE’ (earth) on December 19 are inspired by Te Taiao - the natural world.
Off the back of his latest EP ‘WAI’, Casual Healing is continuing to showcase the mission of his artistry - to create music that forges deep connections between people, spirit and the natural world. ‘People’ is Casual Healing's redemption song. Soul, poetry and acoustic guitar is the body of this hymn, a raw track focusing on lyrics and emotion.
"People hear me now, I see the wicked monetise your sorrow” are the lyrics that resound from the chest of Te Huki. 'People’ is the leading single from Casual Healing's 4th EP of 2025, ONE (pronounced awe-ne). ONE is earth, sand or soil - Te Huki’s dedication to the whenua, the land. Recorded at Massey Studio with a full 11-piece band and engineered by Mike GIbson, ONE is a collection of Acoustic, Soul and Roots/Reggae.

For over 10 years, Nikau Te Huki has embedded human and spiritual intimacy and connection into the foundation of his artistry.
