iHeartRadio New Zealand have announced SIX60 will be performing a free live concert on Friday 21 April at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena.

Formed in Dunedin in 2008, SIX60 consists of Matiu Walters (vocals, guitar), Ji Fraser (lead guitar), Chris Mac (bass, synths), Eli Paewai (drums), and Marlon Gerbes (synths, samples). The band met while studying at Otago University and are named after the street number of their Castle Street flat.

The five-piece released their debut album in 2011, produced by Kiwi icon Tiki Taane, and debuted at number one in the New Zealand charts. Their second self-titled album sat in the New Zealand Top 20 for two years, making them one of New Zealand’s highest charting acts.

Best known for singles such as Don’t Forget Your Roots, Rise Up, Special, and White Lines, SIX60 are loved by Kiwis of all ages, up and down the country.

The iHeartRadio Show will be an exclusive performance with a full 90-minute set. For those who miss out on the free tickets, the concert will be live streamed with 360 degree cameras, a first for iHeartRadio New Zealand and 2degrees gigs. Keep an eye on www.iheart.com for details.

NZME Group Director - Entertainment Dean Buchanan says, “New Zealanders love SIX60and their songs are belted out on road trips all over the country.  Their Auckland show sold out within an hour so we’re thrilled to bring the band to Christchurch for a free gig, while still giving Kiwis everywhere the chance to join in with the live stream.”
