Northlane

Northlane are performing in New Zealand later this week, with shows in Auckland on Thursday night before heading to Wellington on Friday.

We had the chance to fire some questions through to the band ahead of their NZ tour.

You released your third album Node last year with new vocalist Marcus Bridge. What process did you use to recruit Marcus?

We had open auditions worldwide via youtube and sifted through about 2000 applicants. Marcus submitted after some friends talked him into it and he absolutely knocked our socks off with his skills and passion.

Did having Marcus in the band add a different dynamic to making Node?

Absolutely, we had a far greater range of vocal dynamic to work with than we’d ever had before and a new creative in the band. But I’m more excited about what we can do with him in the future.

Node reached the #1 position on the ARIA Charts. How did you feel when you found out?

We don’t really care too much for accolades but this was an achievement we could all feel really proud of.

You also recently released the single Equinox with In Hearts Wakes. How was it recording with them?

It was a real different experience to anything we’d done before. Although sometimes overwhelming it was very exciting having so many people contributing to a release. They’re very close friends of ours and it was quite a fun time.

Who would your dream collaboration be with?

I think we’d love to work with someone completely out of the vein of what we do. To be honest I haven’t really thought about it much.

Your heading to New Zealand very shortly. What can we expect from your shows?

It will be very loud, and wild. New Zealand is always a great time and we haven’t come over in way too long. Very excited.
