Katchafire

The Soundsplash Festival is returning to Raglan in January 2018. Local reggae favourites Katchafire are returning to feature on the bill. We sent a few questions over to lead vocalist Logan Bell ahead of the festival.

Katchafire have been around for almost 20 years now. What do you put down to the longevity of the band?

Our work ethic, great songwriting and Reggae music is timeless

How different are the crowds in each country? Do you have a favourite town to play?

I like playing in Brazil port allegre is one for the books… also Raglan our hometown

What do you think it is about Reggae music that draws so many people?

Love!  There is a message for everyone buried in reggae… it speaks to people who are looking for a healing in there life.

You’re going to be playing Soundsplash in January. You guys must be looking forward to returning to Waikato?

We are looking forward to playing the festival again we where part of its inception very early on and have been waiting for the opportunity to come around again. Looking forward to see how the vibes are there now after a few years and putting out some great energy for the peoples in attendance.

If someone had never been to a Katchafire show before, what could they expect to experience?

Everyone around them knowing and singing the words to every song from the start to the finish … everyone getting down to a vibration that is inclusive, dancing singing, being entertained until the wheels fall off.

Do you guys have any plans to head back to the recording studio in the near future?

We have singles being released over the coming months leading up to the release of our 5th studio album in the new year 2018.

Following Soundsplash, what plans do Katchafire have for 2018?

2018 sees us going to Jamaica to start on the 6th studio album much the same as previous years we have a huge world tour to blow threw after the release of this next album … long live the fire.
