TechN9ne
By Teylor Moss
Date / Venue: Thursday November 17th, 2016 - The Powerstation, Auckland
Aaron Dontez Yates, who we all know as TechN9ne is currently on his 2016 Australia and New Zealand tour. Just after releasing his new album ‘The Storm’ and I was lucky enough to see him live at the Powerstation last night.
Before coming on stage, we had some local talent hype the crowd up. Unfortunately I didn’t obtain either of the acts names, which is a real shame as they had great flow and did an amazing job at hyping the crowd.
Stevie Stone and Ces Cru were up next. My god, they were jaw dropping! They worked so well together, bouncing of each others energy and off the walls! You can tell they prepared for this show and gave it their all, looked like they were having the time of their lives.
After building much anticipation, the lights dim down, the bass gets so low and loud you can feel it in your chest. The crowd’s uncontrollably cheering, then out comes Krizz Kaliko and the crowd lost their minds after performing one song, TechN9ne emerged onto the stage to join Krizz and the duo annihilated that set together, involving the whole crowd. Even getting the ladies to come on stage.
The concert was an emotional roller coaster, I couldn’t get over how amazingly beautiful Krizz’s voice was when he sings. It added a perfect vibe for the show. The sound tech guys should get a raise, best sound I’ve heard at a concert in so long, could hear it so clear and feel it in your chest and it really helped the ambiance of the show.
Playing some favourites at the show, such as Caribou Lou, Am I A Psycho, Speedom, Erbody But Me and so many more, playing a long set of one and a half hours, it was insane!
I had such a good night, good vibes from the crowd, the staff and of course the performers! Tech's playing another show tonight, if you haven’t got your tickets, go get them now!
