Support acts for Robbie Williams NZ & Australia shows revealed
Global superstar Robbie Williams has today announced he will play a fourth and final Victorian date on his upcoming Heavy Entertainment Show Australian Tour. Robbie will take the stage at the Yarra Valley’s Rochford Wines for a special An Evening On The Green performance on Thursday 22nd February.
Also revealed today is the slew of incredible local artists that will support Robbie across his epic ten headlining New Zealand and Australian dates in February and March.
First in a stellar lineup of supporting artists is Tami Neilson, who will warm crowds on both New Zealand dates. Likened to music icons Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones, Tami’s soulful music styling comes straight from the golden age of country and rockabilly. Awarded the APRA Silver Scroll, New Zealand’s most prestigious music award, this acclaimed chart-topping artist is a force to be reckoned with.
The Bamboos will join The Heavy Entertainment Show tour as special guests on the Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth arena shows, as well as Geelong’s sold out A Day On The Green performance. The eight-piece powerhouse have single-handedly redefined Australian soul music, carving out a signature sound recognized around the world. Across seven studio albums, they have achieved five ARIA and three APRA Award nominations, and have worked with vocalists as diverse as Tim Rogers, Aloe Blacc, Megan Washington, Daniel Merriweather and more.
Joining Robbie for the Yarra Valley’s An Evening On The Green is multi-platinum Brisbane sibling super-group, Sheppard. Their number one single Geronimo has become one of the biggest Australian hits of the decade and has given the band more than 400 million streams, a top 40 hit in America and went platinum in 21 countries. Their latest single Coming Home is an infectious, feel-good anthem that is currently #1 on the independent radio chart. The anticipated sophomore album is slated for release in 2018.
Indie-pop sensation Chris Watts takes the stage as first support at Geelong’s A Day On The Green. He has previously supported Sir Elton John, his latest single Wrong Or Right features Amy Sheppard, and with songs that are full of infectious chords, robust rhythms and soaring vocals, Chris Watts is a local star on the rise.
Opening to rave reviews across Europe, The Heavy Entertainment Show will see Robbie perform a glittering hit-laden set spanning his entire career, along with a couple of surprising covers thrown in for good measure.
From his breakthrough global smash hit Angels, through to pop anthems Let Me Entertain You, Millennium, Come Undone, Kids, Feel, Rock DJ and more, Robbie Williams’ unparalleled catalogue is a career-defining generational soundtrack.
