The Hollies announce NZ tour
New Zealand’s love affair with Rock n Roll Hall of Famers, The Hollies, is about to get a whole lot hotter this summer as the legendary band today announces it's bringing The Road Is Long Tour to eight cities in February and March 2019.
Having enjoyed sell-out tours of New Zealand, performing hits including Just One Look, Bus Stop, Carrie Anne, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, and The Air That I Breathe - their concerts have become synonymous with everything that's good about summer here.
From their first recording at Abbey Road in 1963, they became the face of the legendary British Rock Revolution, achieving more Top 10 hits than almost any band in history. They have never missed a single year of live performances in over a half a century and have retained exactly the same "sound" and musical quality as they had when they first hit the charts back in the Swinging Sixties.
Original member, Singer and lead guitarist, Tony Hicks says: "People get what they come for. The trademark Hollies’ harmonies, our musical diversity and lots of original songs from our extensive musical back catalogue."
Hollies drummer since 1963, Bobby Elliott ... "We still tour the world performing to sell-out audiences. Our loyal fans keep coming back for more and we're happy to oblige. A Hollies live performance usually lasts for over two hours. There's no finer feeling than taking that final bow and seeing the sea of beaming friendly faces standing before us"
The Hollies are long time lovers of New Zealand, (among other things our wine!), Hicks says "we're really looking forward to playing four cities we've not visited for many years - Invercargill, Dunedin, Nelson, New Plymouth -- and we're also returning to Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland ... it's our biggest New Zealand tour in a long time!"
The Hollies have an enviable record - over 30 charting singles on the UK Singles chart and 22 on the Billboard Hot 100, with major world-wide hits that included Just One Look, Look Through Any Window, I Can't Let Go, Bus Stop, Stop Stop Stop, On A Carousel, Carrie Anne, Jennifer Eccles, and later He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, and The Air That I Breathe.
They remain one of the few British groups of the early 1960s, along with The Rolling Stones, that have never disbanded and continue to record and perform. In recognition of their achievements, the Hollies were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
