It’s May – so NZ Music Month 2018 is now well underway!  The theme for this year is music discovery – Discover New.  Whether it is new tracks by a legendary act, or an artist who has just put their first track online, there is no shortage of new music being produced across the nation.

NZ Music Month Event Coordinator Rodney Fisher said “Our local music scene’s are producing world class songwriting and live shows.  NZ Music Month is a great chance to discover the next big thing at home before the rest of the world does.  By going to live shows, supporting venues, buying the artist’s merch and adding their tunes to your playlists, you can become an active supporter of cool new music. And most importantly, don’t forget to share your discoveries on your socials!”

Music from New Zealand is being is discovered across the land of the long white cloud, and is also being heard on stages, sites and screens across the world.  “There is no shortage of incredible achievements by artists both at home and abroad in the past year, and in the new streaming environment people can hear New Zealand music whether they are in Levin or Louisiana.  Online platforms mean we have more opportunity to discover music of all kinds and genres from across Aotearoa than ever before.” said NZ Music Commission’s Chief Executive, Cath Andersen.
