The Chainsmokers announce NZ show
Grammy Award-winning and multi platinum selling global sensation The Chainsmokers have announced their Australian and New Zealand dates for the Memories... Do Not Open World Tour. After a massive US tour and sell-out shows around the globe, they finally reach New Zealand, bringing their massive sound and spectacular show to Auckland’s Spark Arena on Tuesday October 24 for one night only.
Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, AKA The Chainsmokers, dropped their highly anticipated debut full length album Memories...Do Not Open (via Sony Music) in April this year after a massive 18 months releasing a string of chart-topping singles.
Starting with the seminal single ‘Roses’ (2015), the duo backed it up with the phenomenal, multi-platinum tune ‘Don’t Let Me Down' featuring Daya and the smash hit ‘Closer’ featuring Halsey. ‘Closer’ reached three-times platinum in New Zealand and has more than one billion views on YouTube worldwide.
A trio of platinum selling singles, ‘All We Know’, ‘Paris’, and the Coldplay collaboration ‘Something Just Like This’ all followed, cementing The Chainsmokers’ place at the top of the global pop charts.
The Chainsmokers became the third group in history to have three singles in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously (‘Something Just Like This’, ‘Paris’ and ‘Closer’), an incredibly rare feat only previously accomplished by The Beatles and the Bee Gees.
The duo won five awards at the 2017 iHeart Radio Music Awards, including Best New Artist, Best New Pop Artist, Dance Album of the Year (Collage), Dance Artist of the Year and Dance Song of the Year (‘Closer’). These wins follow their Grammy Award win for Best Dance Recording (‘Don’t Let Me Down’) and MTV’s Woodie of the Year at last year’s SXSW.
