Garrett Kato announced as support for Frazey Ford's NZ show
Canada’s Soul-Country queen, Frazey Ford, will be gracing New Zealand soil for the first time in November 2017.
She is admirably supported by her band comprised of A-list Vancouver musicians Darren Parris, Craig McCaul, Leon Power, and Caroline Ballhorn, who Frazey refers to collectively as The Quiet Revolution. It was as a member of the well-loved alt-folk band The Be Good Tanyas where the Kootenay/Vancouver-raised, East Van-based singer songwriter’s musical calling began.
And today confirms she will bring fellow Canadian, Garrett Kato, to New Zealand as her support artist for the show.
Garrett Kato is a Canadian born musician and songwriter. He now lives in Byron Bay, New South Wales with his Australian partner and daughter.
Kato's sound is described as subtle images of a younger darker Springsteen with the moments of lush beautiful instrumentation from the likes of Bon Iver and The War on Drugs. Kato has toured extensively throughout Australia including a 33 date sold out support slots for Pete Murray, Bernard Fanningand Kasey Chambers along with multiple sold out headline Australian tours.
In 2015 Kato released his second LP, That Low and Lonesome Sound, to much critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone Magazine exclaiming, “A gentile gem rich with songwriting nous and emotion leaking from every pore” .
