Lawrence Arabia shares 5th Singles Club track 'Everybody Wants Something'
One of New Zealand’s most acclaimed songwriters returns to releasing music, but in a new way. Feeling strangled by music industry release norms of premieres, deadlines and embargoes on his music, Lawrence Arabia decided to take a step closer to his fans, sending them his new music as he makes it.
Introducing 'Everybody Wants Something', a joyous pop gem about "the perils of connectivity". The song features Ryan McPhun and Eliza-Jane Barnes on drums and vocals respectively. The rest is all Lawrence Arabia – it's cynical, sweet and hooky as hell.
To celebrate the release of this song, Lawrence has also decided to announce the first new song in seven years and a tour by his project with Mike Fabulous (Lord Echo), Fabulous/Arabia. More details below.
Fabulous/Arabia are proud to announce "A Tour Called Henry." They will visit Wellington and Hastings at the end of July for two cathartic nights of mid-winter silliness and unstoppable dancing.
After a revelatory performance at Auckland City Limits earlier this year, Mike Fabulous (Lord Echo) and Lawrence Arabia, with their band of "Boogie Boys," featuring Tom Watson and Hayden Eastmond-Mein from the Lawrence Arabia band, Riki Gooch (Cave Circles/ex-Trinity Roots) and Toby Laing (Fat Freddy's Drop), were desperate to relive the majesty once again.
The forthcoming release of 'Henry,' their first new song in seven years, provides the catalyst to make this rare and special occasion happen.
In their other musical lives, Lord Echo and Lawrence Arabia are two of New Zealand's most well loved musical artists, operating in disparate stylistic territories. Together, Fabulous/Arabia combines the irrepressible groove of Fabulous with the wit and harmony of Arabia. It's really great, honestly.
