Introducing Lauv
23-year old independent singer/ songwriter/producer Lauv (pronounced: rhymes with Valve), has just released the music video to his hit single 'I lIke Me Better'.
‘I Like Me Better’ has had over 126 million streams, entered the US Billboard Top 200 and is climbing up the UK Top 100 UK singles chart.
In New Zealand, ‘I Like Me Better’ is currently #5 on the iTunes chart and in Australia is Top 20 on the Spotify Chart. The track has also reached #24 on the Spotify Global Viral Chart and #33 on the Spotify Global Top 50.
Lauv is quietly becoming one of this year’s most important new artists. Last month, Lauv released the Cheat Codes remix to ‘I Like Me Better’ as well as a Spotify Session which includes ‘I Like Me Better’ and Akon’s ‘Don’t Matter’.
When not penning his own music, Lauv’s recent songwriting cuts include ‘Boys’ by Charli XCX, recently named a “Best New Track” by Pitchfork, and ‘No Promises’ by Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato.
Lauv’s newest song follows the release of his debut single ‘The Other’, a song Lauvwrote while studying at NYU, which has amassed more than100 million streams on Spotify. The track also earned the titles of Today's Top Hits and Global 100.
Based in LA by way of NYC, Lauv said, "Before I started making music as Lauv, I'd lost that sense of who I really was for a while. It seems like a lot of people lose touch with that forever, and end up living a life that's not really true to who they are. By being so honest in my songs, I want to encourage people to be okay with who they are and what they feel. More than anything else, that's what drives me to create music in a massive way.”
Earlier this year, Lauv embarked on his sold-out "late nights, deep talks" tour- his first headlining tour. He also performed at Summerfest in July, and performed at Billboard Hot 100 Festival on August 20 At Jones Beach in New York.
