TAPZ releases new single & video for 'Murder Murder'

TAPZ has revealed the music video for his latest single ‘Murder Murder' and can be viewed below.

‘Murder Murder’ follows his previous single and first release on 100s + 1000s‘Run Don’t Run’ (the video for which premiered via Highsnobiety). The media attention following the release of ‘Run Don’t Run’ piqued the interested Apple Music, who invited TAPZ to participate in their inaugural Apple Lab project at Roundhead Studios New Zealand. The resulting piece of work ‘Shadow’ was released exclusively via Apple who made TAPZ their Apple Music NZ Artist Of The Week.

Crafted in his bedroom in the depths of winter, ‘Murder Murder’ is born from misunderstandings. TAPZ recalls feeling passion, aggression and love as he wrote the track, “I drew on my experiences of tainted, defeated love, channeling the hurt, anger and injustice of it in to the lyrics as I chant, "it’s just another murder”. I remember seeing my breath as I recorded the chorus at 6am, which went to paint the atmosphere of the cold synth driven murderous sound the song embraces”.

To paint more of picture, and bring in that cold feeling of rejection, TAPZ then took the song to New York, and in the winter of 2017, finished the song with Joe Pascoe (No Wyld) who added a guitar solo. TAPZ recalls, “I knew I had something special when I shared the song with Che Pope, his email response was filled with exclamation marks.”

‘Run Don’t Run’ follows TAPZ’s feature on Hermitude’s colossal 2015 crossover hit ‘The Buzz’ which has gone on to amass in excess of 30 million plays on Spotify alone – a staggering figure for an artist’s inaugural feature. 'The Buzz' also landed at #8 in the year’s triple j Hottest 100. Later that year, TAPZ went on to self-release his debut solo single ‘Killa’ which premiered locally via Richard Kingsmill on triple j and received international attention via Zane Lowe on Beats 1. ‘Killa’ currently sits on close to two million plays on Spotify.

With widespread support both locally and internationally under his belt on ‘Run Don’t Run’, the buzz is loud for TAPZ. Having already brought his electrifying energy to the same stage as heavy-hitters like A$AP Ferg, Jeremih, Tinie Tempah, Hermitude, G-Eazy and Danny Brown, his meteoric trajectory continues with TAPZ supporting BANKS on her upcoming Australian headline shows later this month.
