TAPZ releases new single & video 'Didn't Know'
TAPZ has revealed his brand new single and video for ‘Didn’t Know’. The new single comes as a triple barrel with the news that TAPZ will release his debut EP Beautiful Nightmare on Friday 24 November and will be heading to Australia to play Sydney’s Brighton Up Bar on Wednesday 22 and Melbourne’s Gasometer Hotel on Thursday 23 November. New Zealand shows to be revealed very soon.
TAPZ describes that ‘Didn’t Know’ was born from a feeling of being emotionally lost and trying to find his way back home. “’Didn’t Know’ documents how loving someone or something so much has this intense power to give you everything and take it all away in the same breath. It's a continuous cycle of madness. The song weighed on my heart for months before I could articulate it, but now it’s out in the world, I feel a sense of freedom,” TAPZ describes.
With the video for ‘Didn’t Know’ premiering via MTV Aus and NZ, TAPZ and collaborator Otis Prinz aimed to amplify the unorthodox, raw intimacy of the track’s audio (acoustic guitars set against electric drum machines, synths and electrc guitars) by taking to the dark and stark settings of a small warehouse, an empty tunnel and a concrete car park. “There's a beautiful conversation happening between the closed spaces and the never-ending concrete car park drowned by a surrounding sea of black. Our aim for the video was to create an illusion of freedom,” TAPZ describes.
‘Didn’t Know’ follows standout singles from the forward thinking artist ‘Run Don’t Run’ and ‘Murder Murder’. The three singles will feature on the forthcoming debut Beautiful Nightmare EP – a stunning body of work featuring six tracks in a culmination of the artist’s solo work to date.
Following TAPZ’s feature on Hermitude’s collassal crossover hit ‘The Buzz’, the artist released his debut solo single ‘Killa’ which sits close to 2 million streams. March this year saw the release of ‘Run Don’t Run’ which activated the upwards trajectory for the prodigious talent. Fans, media and tastemakers alike could not deny the birth of a brand new star.
With widespread support both locally and internationally under his belt, the buzz is loud for TAPZ, an artist who has seemed to develop his very own entrancing brand of noir’n’b.
Having already brought his electrifying energy to the same stage as heavy-hitters like A$AP Ferg, Jeremih, Tinie Tempah, Hermitude, G-Eazy and Danny Brown and BANKS, his meteoric trajectory continues with a string of headline Australian shows announced for November.
