Flume releases new album 'Skin' ahead of NZ tour

Flume’s epic new album Skin is out now via Future Classic.

It was never going to be easy, making a follow-up to his zeitgeist-defining debut - but Flume has delivered. In fact, he’s gone above and beyond.

Zane Lowe calls the album a “modern electronic classic”, and The Guardian say "where his first album sustained a mood, Skin violently generates then slashes through them with the sonic grandeur of a producer discovering new powers.”

Lead single Never Be Like You feat. Kai is a bonafide global smash hit. Already triple platinum in Australia, double platinum in New Zealand and peaking at #10 on the NZ Radio Chart, the track is attracting over 1.1 million streams daily on Spotify and is sitting at over 1.5 million hits on Shazam. In the U.S., the track is #26 and climbing on the Top 40 radio charts and currently sitting at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Say It feat. Tove Lo appears to be on the same trajectory. The single was added to the A-list on Radio 1 in the UK only weeks into the campaign, is currently #9 on the New Zealand iTunes charts, is currently sitting at #43 on the New Zealand RadioChart (peak) and has hit #4 on Spotify’s Australian Top 50.

Yesterday, one of the stand-out tracks on the album, Tiny Cities feat. Beck premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 program as his #worldrecord, along with an interview with Beck and Flume.

To hear Flume speak about how the album came together, you can listen back to Richard Kingsmill’s extended interview with him on triple j here or watch the special Facebook Live event - featuring the first full playback of the entire album hosted by Flume and Phil Taggart, and clocking over 800k views in its first few hours online - here.

Flume’s rising international profile is reflected in sales for his world tour - an incredible 210,000 tickets sold to date, including sold out shows at Qudos Arena, Myer Music Bowl, an unprecedented four sold out shows at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium, and many more around the world.
