Special guests revealed for UB40 NZ dates

UB40 featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey return down under for their 40th Anniversary Tour next January and have announced a massive line-up of special guests joining them to celebrate.
Supergroup, the Marley NZ All Stars are confirmed as special guests for all shows except Church Rd. This mega cast of NZ musicians includes Tiki Taane, Laughton Kora, Warren Maxwell* as well as members of Katchafire, Kora, L.A.B plus vocalists Annie Crummer*, Ria Hall, Anna Coddington and Boh Runga*.
They will perform their highly-acclaimed celebration of Bob Marley, which sold out venues across NZ and Australia in recent months.
Tiki Taane is possibly one of the country’s most well-known and diverse artists and considered a pioneer in the NZ music scene. The frontman of leading band Salmonella Dub, he embarked on his solo career in 2007 and has been firing up audiences with his powerful live performances and much-loved anthems.Tiki Taane will perform his ‘one man band’ show at the Church Road Winery show in Napier.
Opshop burst on to the NZ music scene in 2004 and they quickly became one of the most-loved rock acts of the generation. Their debut album sold Platinum, while the second went 3x Platinum and the third and final album also hit #1. With multiple power tunes such as ‘Big Energy in Little Spaces’, ‘No Ordinary Thing’, ‘Love Will Always Win’, ‘One Day’ and ‘Maybe’, plus multiple awards and accolades, we are excited to confirm the boys have been enticed out of their ‘hiatus’ to join us in Napier, Nelson and Christchurch.
Reggae By The River festival-goers at Waitangi are in for some extra special additions to the bill, with British reggae star Maxi Priest and the return of local Northland heroes, 1814 adding to the festival flavor.
With 2019 marking 40 years since UB40 first performed live, the reggae icons will be celebrating with a ‘greatest hits’ set that features global smashes including ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, ‘Rat In Mi Kitchen’ and ‘Kingston Town’. Ali, Astro & Mickey will be joined on-stage by their incredible eight-piece band.
