Big Day Out 2012

January 20th: Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland

Yesterday marked the final time that Auckland would host a Big Day Out. Mt Smart Stadium has been home to the festival every year since 1994 (with the exception of a year off in 1998) and the wheels were in motion to make sure that the event went out in style.

It seems that this is to be the last Big Day Out held in Auckland.  

A message on the Big Day Out NZ Facebook page reads "This year will be New Zealand's last Big Day Out. Come party with us this Friday. It's been an amazing 18 years here in Auckland."

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has commented on Johnny Cash covering their 1991 song 'Rusty Cage'.  

Cash covered the grunge hit in 1996 and was included on his album 'Unchained' which won a Grammy Award in 1998 for 'Best Country Album'.

Soundgarden are putting the finishing touches on their first studio album in 15 years.  

Frontman Chris Cornell explained that the recording should be finished over the next couple of months and has been produced by Adam Casper (Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam).

Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame, is gearing up to release an album of live acoustic performances of his greatest songs from his 'Songbook' tour.  

The album is set to be released on November 21st and features songs Cornell has written for Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, and Audioslave.  It also features cover versions of John Lennon's 'Imagine' and Led Zeppelin's 'Thank You'.…
