Dave Grohl has confirmed that the Foo Fighters will record a new album this year.  

Talking with BBC 6, Grohl said "Foo Fighters have just started writing and we're going to start recording in September so life is full of music."

It's going to be a busy year for Grohl who is currently touring with his other band Them Crooked Vultures, who are also set to record a new album this year.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has confirmed that the band will regroup this year and start mapping out a new album.  

Hawkins told Kerrang "We'll find time to sit down and start planning the next album. The aim is to get a really solid basis for it."
