By day Megan Blackwell, is a positive, passionate and creative photographer. But come night fall, well... actually she's pretty mich the same it's just darker. Suffice to say Megan does a lot of photography. She runs her own business, www.blackroomphotography.co.nz, specialising in people - not things. Megan's real drive is bringing stories to life through her photos - be it through portraits, weddings or events.
One of her specialities is comedy photography, she loves capturing the unique personalities of comedians as they work. For Megan, shooting concerts is an extension of her live performance work that keeps her claws sharp. Armed with her minimalist stature and cheeky smile, while nothing's been proven, she can get away with shooting almost anyone.
Her first taste of photography was experimenting on her dad's Nikon F3 from his days shooting concerts in the 1970s. Megan still gets goosebumps every time she shoots at Auckland Town Hall knowing 40 years ago her dad was standing in exactly the same spot, doing the exactly same thing.
